Bodie and Doyle are not only in America, which can on occasion (other occasions) be fun, they are actually written as American, with a liberal scattering of not-quite Brit-isms to keep them going. Maybe you won't notice this so much if you're American yourself, but the language just grated on me straight away. Maybe Starsky and Hutch talk like that... I'm also not really sure about the characterisation in some places. The depth of violence and gore didn't bother me, as it has some readers (see other review links), but the justifications and reactions for the violence did. It's just not quite the lads... And both of them are alot smarter than they're portrayed here - although that goes up and down depending on the scene to be played out. Redeeming features? Um... can't think of any. Sorry. Other people do like it, it's something of a classic as far as I'm aware, just not my cup of tea...
