I wasn't expecting to especially, but I really enjoyed this story - something about the idea of the lads all swashing their buckles and so on... It's an Alternative Universe story set in the times of the Scarlet Pimpernel, with Bodie ("Beauville" - and that's probably the one thing that really annoyed me, I wish people wouldn't try and give them different names, even if I do understand the reasoning behind it!) as French aristocracy, and Doyle as an Englishman, both aligned with the Pimpernel himself.

The characterisation must have been pretty good, because I was totally lost in the story, and absolutely imagining our lads in that particular setting. It was both gently described and very evocative, although I admit it took me a little while to get used to the "Regency" style.

In general though - I enjoyed it, and I actually would like to read more from this universe... I suspect it's not out there, more's the pity...
